I followed the election crouched around my laptop with 3 other Aussie expats, all desperately hoping my somewhat shaky broadband connection held up to streaming ABC 702. It was only 10am here when the first results came in, and so instead of a party we had a breakfast.
My flatmates were very confused. "Is it an Australian national holiday?" Of course no-one knows there is an election here, although Howard losing his seat did get a paragraph on page ten of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
